The Weather Globes - WIP

The Weather Globes

I sat in the large bay window of our flat, looking out over the rooftops of the other properties and onto the scorched piece of grass, which represented the communal gardens.  I idly picked up the Weather Globe from the sill and played around with it in my hands.  Looking out over the community I could see the moods of all other tenants; that was the one thing about the Weather Globes they represented the moods of individual and households within the community; whether that is sunshine, mist fog, damp, or thunder.  For me a slow dark rumbling cloud hung low over my window as torrential rain threatened.  Everyone else seemed to be showing glorious sun shine, or early mists reflected onto dew drops in the clouds.  This should have been me too but I struggled to empathise with the good news that we were told yesterday.  Something worried me about it and I just could not put my finger on it.  Whilst I was doing all this pondering the Weather Globe passed gently from one hand to the other letting it connect to me and my energies as it generated for the forthcoming storm that I could see brewing above me.

"Lucinda"
I jumped out of my reverie and as I did so I dropped the Weather Globe and it made a clanking sound as it hit the parquet floor and rolled across it effortlessly to my intruder.
"You know better than this.  And what the hell do you think you are doing"
"Nothing" I said
"I was just thinking.  That is still allowed is it not?" I added sarcastically.  I got shot a look of disdain and anger.  But no response followed.
"Cheer up and get rid of the rain cloud.  You know we can't do anything now that you have touched it for the day"
"I shall see what I can do" I said before climbing of the ledge, wandering over to the tall thin lean person, who was supposed to be my mother.  I took the Weather Globe back off her and wandered back across to the sill and my idle musings.
